There are some big decisions to make when starting a family, but for my husband and I we knew before we even started trying that we wanted private health insurance for our experience. At 37 weeks pregnant I was so glad we made this choice early, as my husband suffered a sporting injury and broke his wrist in 3 places the week before I was due to be induced. He required immediate reconstructive surgery (and several custom-made cast fittings).
With just 7 days before our first arrival was due, our Private Health Insurance allowed me to be flexible with my hospital dates to work around this unplanned circumstance and reschedule my induction procedure to allow him time to recover from his surgery first. In a matter of weeks were both admitted to hospital and received extensive medical care and I couldn’t feel more secure knowing we had private health cover in place to cover it all! In a time already filled with so many unknowns, our hospital cover was never one of them and although we couldn’t predict what happened, we knew we were going to be looked after.
